A major healthcare provider is planning to open a new office and create more Atlanta nurse jobs and other medical positions.
Kaiser Permanente recently announced that it will invest about $2 million to open a new medical office in Lawrenceville, located about one hour from Atlanta. The office will serve as the company’s third location in Gwinnett County.
"The new medical office in Lawrenceville will provide more convenience and access to our members," Peter Andruszkiewicz, president of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia, said. "The property is in an ideal location, which enables us to better serve members in this ever-growing city and county."
The new office is expected to employ between 10 and 15 healthcare professionals, and also will include exam and procedure rooms, a laboratory, pharmacy and basic radiology services. About $1.8 million will be invested in interior construction, furniture, and medical and IT equipment.
The facility, which is expected to open at the end of May, will be staffed by physicians of The Southeast Permanente Medical Group. Offerings will initially include internal medicine and pediatrics for Kaiser Permanente members.
Partnership Gwinnett, a community and economic development initiative led by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, has targeted healthcare as one of the five industries that could bring employment and investment to the Atlanta area.
"The Partnership Gwinnett research on our healthcare industry showed that we had significant potential for growth in this market," Charles Bannister, chairman of Gwinnett County Commission, said. "Kaiser Permanente’s expansion is a strong testament to our focus on achieving that potential and cultivating a pro-business environment essential to sustainability and growth of healthcare businesses."
